Who we are

TheMyths (themyths.net) runs The Mystic Table, an interactive tarot reading, and the tarot card meaning pages on this site. You can reach us at [email protected]. Your account is a TheMyths account: one sign-in for everything TheMyths makes, now and in future. What you have in each creation, such as your credits and readings at The Mystic Table, belongs to that creation.

What we collect

If you create an account: your email address (used to send you sign-in codes, handled by our sign-in provider), your nickname, anything you choose to add to your profile (avatar, a one-line bio, date of birth, gender), the notes you post, including photos you attach to them (location and other camera details are removed on upload; only the picture is kept), and your credit balance and history. When you have a reading: your question, what you type or tap at the table, the cards drawn and the reader's replies. To protect the free credits from abuse, we record the IP address you sign up and sign in from. We also count anonymous events, such as cards drawn and how long a reading lasts; these events hold no words. We count visits to the site's pages too: a random number kept in your browser, the page you opened, the site or app that sent you (such as a search engine or a chat app), your account if you are signed in, and your country or region (country level only; the IP address is not stored). What you do in the notes feed while signed in (opening, liking, saving, commenting, following and signing in) is also counted against your account. None of this holds words you type, and we do not store it with your IP address; we use it only to see how many people come and which pages they find useful. Page visits and your activity in the notes feed are kept for 90 days, then deleted, leaving only daily totals with no personal information in them.

What we keep on your device

The Mystic Table stores your preferences (deck settings, subtitles) in your browser. A guest's kept readings are stored in that browser, not in an account. We also keep a random number in your browser (not a cookie), so we can tell a returning visitor from a new one.

How we use it

To run your readings and your account; to let the reader remember your past readings when you are signed in; to improve her readings and fix problems; and to prevent abuse. We do not sell your personal information, and we never show your readings to other people. To find where she reads badly, we also make a few anonymous counts on each reply automatically (for example, whether it wandered off the question or ran too long). Only the counts are kept: not your question, her reply, your account or your network address, and they cannot be traced to anyone.

Personalised recommendations

To put the notes you are more likely to enjoy near the top of Recommended, we record what you do on TheMyths: what you read (including how long you stay on notes and comments), likes, saves, comments, posts, follows and the games you play, and from them guess the topics and tags you care about. These records are used only to order recommendations on this site; they are never shown to anyone else or given to third parties, and the details are kept for 90 days. When you are not signed in, they stay in your own browser. You can see and delete your interest tags, or turn personalised recommendations off, under Me → Account & settings → My interests; deleting your account deletes all of these records.

Who helps us

Supabase stores our data and handles sign-in. Vercel hosts the site. The reader's replies are produced automatically by a third-party text-processing provider: what you type at the table, together with your cards, is sent to that provider to compose each reply. Google AdSense shows ads on card meaning pages, guide articles and the notes feed only, never during a reading, and Google may use cookies to show and measure those ads (see https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads). You can turn off personalised ads at https://adssettings.google.com. Only if you agree on The Mystic Table's first screen do we also use Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel to measure visits.

How long we keep it

We keep account data while your account is open, and reading records for as long as they help us run and improve the service. You can delete your account yourself at any time under Me → Account & settings: your account, credits, readings, notes and their photos, comments and avatar are deleted together and cannot be recovered. You can also email us to delete it, and we will do so within 30 days.

Your choices

You can change your profile at any time under Me → Edit profile. To see, correct or delete your data, or to ask a question about privacy, write to [email protected]. You can also refuse analytics on The Mystic Table's first screen, and block or clear cookies in your browser. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or you refused analytics at the table, we do not count your visits. Clearing this site's data in your browser resets the random number.

Children

The Mystic Table is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
