Midnight Taxi Ride, Driver Glances in Rearview Mirror and Says: “Where Are You All Going?”
· TheMyths Society President
Taxi drivers are among the people in the city who love telling ghost stories the most. Night shift drivers see a lot and hear a lot.
There is a story that drivers in several cities have told. It goes that at around two in the morning, a young man hailed a cab by the roadside, got in, sat in the back seat, and gave a destination. The car drove off, streetlights passing one after another.
After a while, the driver glanced into the rearview mirror and casually asked, “Are you all together?”
The young man in the back seat was stunned for a moment and said, “Just me.”
The driver said nothing, and looked at the rearview mirror again. In the mirror, beside the young man, leaning against the car door, it seemed someone was sitting there, head bowed, long hair, motionless.
The driver drove the car to the destination, took the money, and only after the young man got out did he discover there was no one else in the back seat.
Veteran night shift drivers have a saying: what you fear most at night isn’t ghosts, it’s drowsiness. After driving for over ten hours straight, staring at the road, the shadows in your peripheral vision start moving on their own. But they also admit that everyone has one or two experiences they can’t explain.
