Red Mask: The Woman Who Spread Among Seoul Elementary School Students in 1979

Korea also has a ghost similar to the Slit-Mouthed Woman, called "Red Mask."
She wears a red mask and a red trench coat, standing by the roadside at night, stopping children on their way home from school, and asks: "Am I pretty?"
If you say yes, she takes off her mask, her mouth split to her ears, and asks: "Now?" If you say no, she uses a knife to slice your mouth open too. If you say yes, she still slices your mouth open.
This legend is said to have suddenly spread among elementary schools in Seoul in 1979. During that time, children dared not walk alone at night, and the school notified parents as well.
Later, someone analyzed that the story was passed over from Japan's Slit-Mouthed Woman. The Japanese version has several ways to escape: answering "so-so" will make her hesitate, allowing you to run during that time; or throwing her a piece of candy, which she will go pick up; others say you must chant the word "hair wax" for her to leave.
To this day, Korean children still know, and adults still know. Once mentioned, everyone will say that line: "Am I pretty?"
