印尼的“跳尸”:裹着白布一蹦一蹦

Indonesia has a ghost called the "Pocong", and it looks very strange: a person wrapped head to toe in white cloth, with only a face showing, the face grayish-white, eyes sunken in, no legs, only able to hop around.
This image comes from local funerals. In Muslim funerals, the deceased is wrapped in white cloth, with knots tied at the head, neck, and ankles; before burial, the knots must be untied.
Legend says that if the family forgets to untie them during burial, the deceased's soul is trapped in the cloth and cannot get out, so it hops out at night to wander around the village, looking for someone to untie it for them.
Indonesians say that if you see a white thing hopping along by the roadside at night, never look back, and definitely don't speak.
In Indonesian horror movies, the "Pocong" is almost always a character—some are comedies, some are genuinely scary. When children play hide-and-seek, someone sometimes wraps themselves in a bedsheet to dress up as it and scare people.
They say that if you really encounter it, you don't need to be afraid, because it's also very pitiful: it doesn't want to harm you, it just wants you to untie the cloth for it.
