The porcelain doll Annabelle in the movie is actually a rag doll in real life

The doll in the movie Annabelle is a porcelain-faced doll with a very fierce expression, scary at first glance. The real one doesn't look like that.
According to the Warrens, the real Annabelle is a "Raggedy Ann" doll, with red yarn hair, a round face, a triangular nose, very plain, a bit comical. In 1970, a nursing student received this doll as a birthday gift from her mother and put it on her dorm bed. Not long after, she and her roommate found that the doll's position was always changing—sometimes sitting, sometimes lying on the floor—and notes appeared with words neither of them had written, saying things like "Help me."
They found a medium, who said a little girl's soul named Annabelle was attached to the doll, just wanting a place to live. The two girls were soft-hearted and agreed to let her stay there. Later, a friend in the dorm was choked from behind by something and was so scared she never dared come again, so they went to the church for help, and the church passed the message to the Warrens, the real-life prototypes for The Conjuring movies.
The Warrens' approach was to say there was no little girl in the doll at all, but an evil spirit wanting to possess someone, using a child's name to win sympathy. They took the doll away and put it in their home's "occult museum," inside a glass cabinet with a "Do Not Open" notice posted on it.
So that face in the movie was changed by the director because he felt a rag doll wasn't scary enough. The real doll is still there, in that cabinet in Connecticut, USA, but that museum later closed to the public, and I couldn't find reliable news about where this doll is now.
As for whether the rag doll really has issues, there is only the Warrens' side of the story, with no third-party records.
