The furniture in a friend's house swaps left and right every once in a while

February 20, 2013, early morning. Someone posted on a forum, saying that they had encountered something inexplicable last year. The OP was talking about a friend's house in Wangjing, Beijing. It was a duplex apartment provided by the company for employees, housing five people in total. The friend lived in the largest room upstairs, and the door faced the mirror of the corridor bathroom.
Late June 2012, the OP visited for the first time and stayed for two or three days, taking several photos. The room was very tidy: a floor-standing air conditioner upon entering; the bed and bedside table were on the right side of the central axis; the computer desk, piano, and cabinet were on the left. He noticed that things that couldn't be moved in the room—outlets, switches, radiators—were also left-right symmetrical, which felt strange, but he didn't think much of it.
In July, he visited again. As soon as he entered, he was stunned: the bed had moved to the left, and the computer desk, piano, and everything else had moved to the right. It wasn't a mess; the entire room had been flipped left-to-right. He asked his friend when they had moved the furniture. The friend looked completely baffled and said they hadn't moved anything since moving in, and the bed had always been on the left.
The OP took out the photos from the previous visit to show him, but the friend insisted the OP was pranking him.
Late August, the friend called him himself, sounding panicked. He had seen a photo taken by a classmate on August 5th in his room, and in that photo, the bed was on the right. The classmate also confirmed that when they visited, the bed had been on the right.
The friend later said he had no choice but to believe it, yet he lived there every day and never felt any change. The OP calculated that the furniture in the room had swapped left and right at least three times.
The friend also recalled something. Earlier, when his colleagues were all away on business trips, he was home alone. In the middle of the night, he heard footsteps downstairs. He went out to hide in the neighbor's place and found that the door to the opposite bathroom was wide open. He always checked if that door was locked before going to bed because he was afraid of the mirror. The next day, he searched the entire house; nothing was missing, and all doors and windows were locked from the inside.
The post later spread widely. Someone compared two photos below and said the wood grain patterns on the cabinets were different in both—it wasn't the same cabinet. As for the OP, they never provided any further updates.
