4625千赫:一个四十年的“嗡——”声,偶尔会有人说话

People who play with shortwave radios will receive a very strange station on the 4625 kHz frequency: every one or two seconds, a “buzz,” over and over, monotonous, incessant, twenty-four hours a day, and it has been sounding for more than forty years.
It is in Russia. Someone online gave it a name, calling it “The Buzzer,” also known as UVB-76.
Most of the time, it just buzzes. Occasionally, a human voice will interject, speaking Russian, reciting a string of names and numbers, like a code, and after finishing, it returns to buzzing.
Around 2010, it recited a very long string of names, followed by a string of numbers. People online studied it for a long time, with no results.
In some years, its sounds increased, and occasionally a piece of music would be inserted.
No one knows what this station is for. Some say it is used by the military to keep the channel open, turned on every day, ready to issue orders at any time; some say it is part of a nuclear retaliation system left over from the Cold War, called the “Dead Hand,” and if the country were destroyed, it would automatically send a signal to launch missiles. The Russian government has never publicly explained it.
There are many people around the world who guard this frequency twenty-four hours a day. Since the eighties, no one has ever turned it off, and no one knows when it will speak its next sentence.
